Riding on the back of a mushrooming demand for quality IT skills, local training provider On-Site Training has elected to get all their trainers CompTIA CTT+ certified before the end of this year. On-Site Training offers a private training service to corporates and individuals in South Africa and currently contracts between 15 and 20 trainers versed in CompTIA’s A+, Network+, CTT+ and shortly IT Project+.
Richard Rayne, founder and managing director of On-Site Training says their business model is reliant on its trainers to ensure that service delivery and training quality is of the highest standard at all times. “We ensure that the qualifications, experience and trainer abilities meet our criteria before we decide to contract the services of an individual. On-Site Training made a decision in May 2003 to become a CompTIA member – a key motivating factor to choosing CompTIA was the Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) certification. The CTT+ allows On-Site Training to set a globally recognised standard for all of our trainers and acts as a benchmark when recruiting new training staff.”
The CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) certification is a cross-industry credential recognising excellence in technical instruction. CTT+ certification is the industry recognition that a technical instructor has attained a standard of excellence in his or her profession. Those holding the CTT+ certification demonstrate core competencies that include instructor knowledge and credibility, classroom performance and effective communication and presentation skills.
“While there are local standards registered on the NQF for trainers and facilitators - the EDTP standards - we chose to back the CTT+ certification based on CompTIA’s commitment to map the certification outcomes to meet South African standards in addition to providing the trainer with an international qualification,” says Richard.
